In December 2025, student volunteers from Maple Leaf Bilingual School Luoyang, acting as a local branch of the MLIS Students Charity Union, organized and carried out a charity outreach activity at NanSong Primary School in Luoyang. The initiative aimed to support rural education, promote environmental awareness, and encourage student participation in public welfare.
Preparation for the activity began several months earlier. Volunteers from the school's environmental society organized recycling initiatives on campus, collecting used books, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans. Through recycling and small fundraising efforts, the students raised funds to purchase educational supplies and sports equipment for children in the rural school.
During the visit, volunteers delivered a variety of materials including school bags, stationery, drawing supplies, and sports equipment such as badminton rackets and jump ropes. These items were carefully prepared to support students from Grade 1 to Grade 6 and help improve their learning experience.
After the donation ceremony, the volunteers conducted a series of interactive teaching activities for the students. The sessions covered multiple subjects, including English learning, music, science, arts and crafts, and physical education. Younger students participated in creative workshops, while older students explored simple science experiments and outdoor sports activities.
The activity not only provided material support to the students of NanSong Primary School but also created opportunities for meaningful interaction between the volunteers and local children. Through teaching and communication, both groups gained valuable experiences.
As part of the MLIS Students Charity Union's mission to encourage youth-led philanthropy, the Luoyang volunteers demonstrated how students can take initiative to support their communities. By combining environmental action, fundraising, and volunteer service, the activity reflected the organization’s commitment to promoting social responsibility, compassion, and educational support.
