Student-Led Charity and Sustainability Initiatives
Luoyang · MLIS Student Charity Activity
At Maple Leaf Bilingual School Luoyang, students actively participate in community service and environmental initiatives. Through projects such as the Recycling Club and charity events like Pi Day, students turn everyday actions into meaningful contributions to society.
The Recycling Club

The Recycling Club is a student-created organization founded by high school students at Maple Leaf Luoyang. Since its establishment, the club has focused on promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable habits across the school community.

During their free time, members collect recyclable materials such as cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, and old books from around the campus. They carefully sort and organize these items before preparing them for recycling. Through this effort, students help keep the campus clean while promoting responsible resource use.

Turning Recycling into Charity

The collected recyclable materials are later sold, and the funds raised are used to purchase supplies for people in need. These may include warm clothing and daily necessities for elderly residents in nursing homes or books and stationery for children studying in under-resourced rural schools.

Students often participate in preparing and delivering these donations themselves. Seeing the smiles of elderly residents or the excitement of children receiving new books reminds them that even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

Through initiatives like the Recycling Club, students learn that environmental responsibility and community service can work together to create positive change.
